Bright Inside

Bright Inside(2018) is a site specific work that was performed in Yejjong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Yeji-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, is a place where merchants repair and sell cameras, watches, jewelry and lighting from the early 1970s. In addition, Yeji-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, has old alleys, but under the leadership of SH Corporation in Seoul and Seoul city hall , it will be redeveloped about two years later.  

I have been researching the interviews and places of engineers for about 6 months in Yeji - dong, Jongno - gu, Seoul. Thus, I found that cameras, jewelry, clocks, lights, and coils that are being traded in Yeji - dong, are related to the sparkling light. I imagine that of showcases of stores, lighting, camera strobe and light in yeji-dong talks about the stories, history, and interviews of merchants in yeji-dong. As if looking for constellations in the universe, the audience can walk around YeJi-dong and watch and listen them.

Bright Inside (2018)은 서울시 종로구 예지동이라는 지역에서 시작한 작품이다.  예지동은 카메라, 시계, 보석, 조명 등을 수리 판매하는 개인 상점들이 즐비한 곳이며, 서울 중심에 있음에도 불구하고 많은 시간들이 남아있는 곳이다. 어쩌면 사라질지도 모르는 종로구 예지동에서 약 6개월 정도 인터뷰와 자료조사를 통하여 상인들의 경험들과, 지역과 관련한 구전되는 이야기, 떠오르는 생각들을 모았다.  예지동에서 자주 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있는 진열장, 조명, 카메라의 스트로보, 반짝이는 물건들이 예지동과 관련한 역사와 상인들의 이야기들을 대신 전달할 수 있으면 어떨까라는 생각에서 부터 시작한 Bright Inside (2018)는 마치 우주에서 별자리를 찾아 다니듯 관객들은 예지동을 돌아다니며 관람할 수 있다.
